A GOOD 19TH CENTURY FRENCH CLOSE HELMET DECORATED IN THE 16TH CENTURY FRENCH OR ITALIAN
the cast iron skull with large raised comb profusely decorated to either side with stands of arms in the neoclassical style, the skull decorated to match with scenes from the battlefield, the pivoting visor with two sights decorated with angels and laurel wreaths flanking the head of Minerva, the lower visor decorated to match with Roman Gods and Roman courtly scenes, the bevor and gorget decorated in a similar fashion with bands of scrolling foliage, serpents and birds.
