A LATE 16TH CENTURY GERMAN BURGONET OR HELMET

the single piece skull drawn up to a raised roped comb and out to a downturned shallow peak, the latter with shallow gully and partial shield shaped stamp, the two hinged cheek defences pierced for the ears and flared and contoured to the neck defence with shallow gully, roped edge and domed brass rivets, plume holder to the base of the comb, larger domed rivet decoration with foliate washers. Some small areas of lamination and evidence of patching.
