A BRITISH NAVAL MIDSHIPMAN'S DIRK OF RNAS INTEREST

46cm blade by Gieves, etched with scrolling foliage, crowned GVR cypher and crowned fouled anchor, regulation brass mounted hilt with lion's head pommel, wire bound fishskin grip, in its engraved brass mounted leather scabbard, the upper mount engraved with the owner's name A.W.E. Laurie, complete with knot. Laurie was killed when Fairey Swordfish LS182, piloted by Lieutenant Commander Slater crashed shortly after take off.
