A 1788 PATTERN CAVALRY OFFICER'S SABRE OF ENORMOUS PROPORTIONS

94cm triple fullered blade, 4.8cm wide at the hilt, decorated with a large maker's panel for Knubley Sword & Gun Manufacturer, No. 7 Charring Cross London, this cartouche surmounted with a stand of arms, the lower portion decorated with swags and a gorget, all highlighted in faded gilt on a faded blued ground, multiple edge nicks, regulation steel hilt of folding attack form, faceted collar, back strap and tang button, wire bound ribbed wooden grip. John Knubley, Sword and Gun Manufacturer 1772-1793.
