NETHERLANDS - AN EARLY 19TH CENTURY NAVAL BOARDING AXE

12.7cm across the crescent-shaped face, stamped M2 on one side, 26.2cm from the face to the tip of the down turned square section tapering fluke, secured to its original wooden haft by two rivets, the former with broad dome-shaped foot, integral belt hook. Circa 1801 this is the Dutch version of the French Naval Boarding Axe of this period.
