AN 1805 PATTERN ROYAL NAVAL MIDSHIPMAN'S SWORD

56cm fullered blade decorated with scrolling foliage, a stand of arms, a globe and crossed oars and a fouled anchor, evidence of sharpening for use, regulation gilt stirrup hilt, the langets decorated with crowned fouled anchors, wire bound fishskin grip, contained in its copper gilt mounted leather scabbard, the upper mount with maker's panel for SALTER, two small cracks to hilt.
