NETHERLANDS - AN EARLY 19TH CENTURY NAVAL BOARDING AXE OF NAPOLEON INTEREST

13.2cm across the crescent-shaped face, 23.6cm from the face to the tip of the cylindrical fluke, the latter tapering to a square section spike, secured to its original square section wooden haft with two rivets and with shaped grip. Dutch naval boarding axes of this form were made for the visit of Napoleon and his wife in the September of 1811.
