A NAVAL OFFICER'S SPECIAL ORDER FIGHTING SWORD TO JOSEPH HUDSON

80cm broadsword blade etched with a maker's panel for WILKINSON and the owner's initials JSH, serial no. 12471, regulation copper gilt hilt, lion's head pommel, wire bound fishskin grip, in its engraved copper mounted leather wrapped wooden scabbard, the upper mount with maker's plaque, complete with knot. Captain Hudson served under Admiral Lyons in the Sea of Asov, attacking Russian supplies, for which he was awarded the Asov clasp to his Crimea medal, the Turkish Crimea medal, the French Legion of Honour, and the Turkish Order of the Medjidieh 5th class.
